Symptoms
- A small rash and flu like symptoms such as fever, chills, headache, fatigue, muscle and joint pains may occur.
- The cause of STARI is considered to be unknown although research suggests Borrelia lonestari may be responsible. Because of this, no diagnostic tests exist and clinical signs and a history of exposure will be the key in diagnosis.

- Because the cause of STARI is unknown, there is no confirmed treatment. However, physicians will typically use antibiotics such as doxycycline if STARI is suspected.
